This letter will serve as a reference for Schmeling Construction Company. In brief, Mr. Stephen Schmeling served as the Project Manager for the expansion of VanMatre HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital during 2008/2009. The project included but was not limited to the addition of 14 private rooms; construction of a new assisted patient dining area, construction of a new nursing unit, addition of conference rooms and medication dispensing room, modernization/renovation of the respiratory department, modernization/renovation of the food service department/kitchen, and modernization/renovation of the Medical Records Department.
I, as CEO of VanMatre HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital and as a doctoral level clinician, have very high expectations of my leadership team as well outside vendors that will ultimately impact the hospital, patients, and community alike. This exceeding level of expectation is grounded in areas of professionalism, responsiveness, communication, performance, and value. Mr. Stephen Schmeling and his team receives top ratings in all categories! I have been especially impressed with not only the articulate communication of the details at every level of the project but also, the execution of specific actions while never deviating from the accepted plan. I also feel compelled to mention that the VanMatre project came in under budget and ahead of schedule, impressive statistics in the Ilinois certificate of need (CON) environment often time mandating near perfection across these variables!! Mr. Schmeling's professional demeanor, responsiveness to questions that varied from design to budgetary, and his drive toward and resulting impeccable work/product quality places Mr. Schmeling at a respect level equal to that which I hold for my colleagues across the health care environment.
